CareerBuilder: Some Employers Still Plan to Hire Temporary or Contract Employees in Q4

Thirty-two percent of employers plan to hire temporary or contract employees in the fourth quarter, down slightly from 33% last year, according to a forecast by ASA corporate partner CareerBuilder. Twenty-two percent expect to transition some temporary or contract staff into permanent employees before the end
of the year.
Twenty-five percent of employers plan to add full-time, permanent employees in the fourth quarter, relatively unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2012 (26%). Nine percent of employers plan to downsize their staffs.
Industries expected to outpace the national hiring average include information technology (36%), financial services (32%), and manufacturing (30%). Hiring among large health care organizations is expected to mirror the national average.
